8/19/06 Nickajack Lake
Overall it seemed to be a tuff day of fishing for everyone.....To me it seemed like the fish were just not wanting to feed.....You had to hit one in the head, while anchored I had two good bites, but both fish spit the bait out before I could get the circle hooks in them.......We had 7 boats, not a big crowd but everyone seemed to enjoy themself.....First paid $420, Second $262.50, Big Cat $157.50....Over half of the field were newcomers to SCA events, but I expect we will see them again......Now for the winners 1st and Big cat was Jennifer and Mike Mitchell with 4 blues weighing 83.14, the big blue was 44.2 lbs......Second went to David and Lester Harrison with 1 Blue weighing 35.14 pounds.

We caught our fish on skipjack, two of them in the morning below Nickajack dam, the other two including the 44 came from Nickjack lake......they were 30-50 ft deep, tight to structure, all caught drifting.

Second place was using Bream and they were anchored down in Nickajack lake, they fish Nickajack regularly, and let me tell you they had some photos to back it up....I'am talking about 70 & 80 lbers.

I would like to say thanks to all the participants and would like to tell everyone who has the opportunity to fish Nickajack that they truly have a first class catfishery....I'am thinking of doing two tournaments up there next year, one from shellmound and possibly one in the Chickamagua Dam area, If anyone would be interested in helping me put these tournaments together or even running them for SCA, email me or call anytime.

I will post pics when they are developed

May God Bless,

Mike Mithell

Not a lot of fish caught but some nice ones, including the new big cat of the year. The winning stringer was caught by Allen Neuschwander and Brandon Price with 3 Cats that weighed a whopping 95 Lbs. Second Place and Big Cat was caught by Jr. and Terry Osborne with a nice 64.14 Lb. Blue. Out of 23 participants only 11 fish were brought to the scales, with 6 of them being 30+ lbs.

Wilson Lake 5/13/06

What a day on Wilson, with winds making the fishing tuff everyone but one boat brought fish to the scales. But know one could top Bruce Paulk and Stan Garner's 5 fish limit of 160.10 Lbs.  they also had big cat with a 39 Lb. blue. Coming in Second was Larry Muse and Wesley Roberts with 70.8 Lbs of Bluecats. Third place went to Sammy and Mike Mitchell with 54.10 Lbs. All together 770 dollars in Prize money was paid out, not to mention the top two teams qualified to compete in the Cabelas Classic. The Cabelas tournament with a guaranteed $60 thousand dollars in prizes and money payout will be held in Oct. on Pickwick/Wilson Lakes.

2005 SCA Classic
Hey guys.......I was holding out for some pics to post with the classic results, but haven't got them back yet...I'll post some later.

If you have never fished Wheeler/Wilson Lake this might make you want to try it sometime......This was a record for SCA and for what I'm told is the largest winning weight ever recorded at a catfish tournament of 7 fish or less.....We had a 6 fish limit for two days......the top four teams weighed in a combined total of 904.7 LB's of Bluecats, that is a record for any catfish tournament in the U.S.A.....here again this is not 100% confirmed yet, but I believe we have set multiple records at this event...fourth place was Greg and Kim Ledbetter with a 6 fish limit of 186.6 LB, Kim also caught big cat on the second day with a 61.4 LB Blue......third place Andrew Wilbanks and Larry Muse with 212.2 LB of blues caught from Wilson Lake, 5 of the 6 weighed 198.14 LB and were weighed in the first day.......second place was Ray Ferguson with 242 LB he was also fishing Wilson in 10-20ft of water, he also weighed 5 the first day that topped the scales at 213.10 LB, and one blue the second that weighed 28.6......First place went to Richard Woodruff and Mike Mitchell with a six fish limit that weighed 263.15 LB, these blues came from Wheeler Lake, we also weighed 5 the first day that weighed 250.3 LB and only managed a 13.12 on the second day to finish the limit.....Richard had Big Cat of the event and year as well with a 63.9 LB Bluecat.....Overall there was a total of 37 cats brought to the scales that weighed 1185 LB's, thats an average of 32 LB per fish......$2600 in cash and prizes were awarded to the top 6 places....I appreciate everyone for making this year a huge success and would like to invite everyone to join us in the upcoming SCA events.

Special thanks to our sponsors Minn-Kota, Loki Nets, Phil King's Guide Service, TrophyCats Guide Service, Poledaddy Rod Holders, Tennesee Valley Outdoors Magazine and Catfish Supply Company.

Kentucky Lake ( Pickwick Dam) 6-12-04

Only 6 limits were weighed in and 38 cats total that weighed in at 193 pounds, thats a 5 pound average. First Place went to Phil King and David Coughlin of Corinth, Mississippi with a 5 fish limit that weighed 38.05 lbs. Wheeler Lake March 27, 2004
Another great SCA event with beautiful weather, calm waters, and huge cats caught. With a large crowd gathered at the weigh in site, partly due to a large bass tournament weighing in only 30 minutes prior to our weigh in. The crowd got an eye full to say the least. With the first few 30 pounder's getting weighed in, the bass anglers jaws dropped, some saying how can you land those. Then the team of Richard Woodruff and James Azbell brought in a 60 lb Blue Cat and everyone was amazed, then they got out a 75 lb blue then another nice fish for a 3 fish total weight of 168 pounds. Needles to say they took first and big cat. Several more nice fished were weighed including a 42 lb flathead.

All fish were caught using cut / whole skip-jack for bait, in the 25-50 ft depth range.

Hope to see everyone April 17 at Guntersville State Park.

Wilson Lake March 6, 2004

Record breaker tournament, but not in boats to turnout..............We had a total of 16 competitors.....I think the rain and lack of good bait, scared several people off........I'll admit bait was hard to come by........But as for the cats, everyone caught fish....There were 30 Blue Cats weighed in and 1 flathead.........With a combined total weight of 622 lb and 8 oz.......Thats a 20 lb average.......4 boats had over 100 lbs....With Mark and Jon Hendon of Florence, Alabama coming in 1st place with a 5 fish limit of 173 lbs.........Followed Closely by Richard Woodruff of Russellville and James Azbell of Florence with 169 lbs..........Big Cat was Taken by Kris Gresham and Tim Faulkner of Florence with a 56 lb Blue.....There were 7 fish weighed in over 40 lbs

Most of these Big Cats were caught in 50-75 ft of water on cut Skip-Jack
